Economics Club

Mission

The mission of the ECONOMICS CLUB OF YORK is to keep its members fully informed on current economic and business issues affecting York County and to better prepare them as leaders in advancing human progress through an economic, political and social system based on individual freedom, opportunity and responsibility.

Meeting Information

The Economics Club meets 11 times per year-February through December-at 7:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of each month. November & December meetings are scheduled earlier in the month due to the holidays. The Economics Club is also pleased to host the annual York County Chamber "Spirit of York" Distinguished Achievement Awards breakfast in April.

Past speakers and their topics have included:

  • Dr. Jay H. Bryson, Global Economist - Wachovia Corp., A Wells Fargo Company - A look at the national economy.
  • Maura Donahue, Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce - Businesses must get involved in the political process or risk their own demise.
  • York County Commissioners - The economics of the Susquehanna Riverlands Project.
  • Ron Workman, President, Kinard Trucking - Business and challenges.
  • Dave Patti, President / CEO, Pennsylvania Business Council - The changing faces in Pennsylvania government.
  • Tom Wolf, Chair of the Board / CEO, The Wolf Organization, Inc. - Succession planning.
  • Gary St. Hillaire, SVP & CFO, Capital BlueCross - Challenges of health care costs.
  • John K. Snyder, Jr., President, Diamond International & Geppi's Entertainment - Children's education through entertainment.
